1. Who we are
This Cookie Policy applies to www.edenescapescumbria.co.uk, operated by Eden Escapes ("we," "us," "our"). If you have questions about this policy, contact us at stay@edenescapescumbria.co.uk.
2. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They're widely used to make websites work, work more efficiently, and to provide information to the people who run the site.
3. The cookies we use
We keep this simple: we use one type of non-essential cookie (analytics) and one strictly necessary cookie (to remember your choice). We do not use advertising, marketing, or social media cookies.
cookie-consent - strictly necessary. Set by us, first-party, and lasts 180 days. Remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics cookies, so we don't have to ask you on every visit.
_ga — analytics. Set by Google, and lasts up to 2 years. Distinguishes unique visitors for Google Analytics. Only set if you click "Accept."
_ga_[container-id] — analytics. Set by Google, and lasts up to 2 years. Persists session state for Google Analytics 4. Only set if you click "Accept."
We use Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymisation enabled. It tells us things like how many people visit the site, which pages are popular, and how people found us — we don't use it to identify you personally, and we don't share this data for advertising.
4. Strictly necessary cookies
The cookie-consent cookie is exempt from consent requirements under Regulation 6(4) of PECR because it's necessary to provide a service you've explicitly requested: remembering your cookie preference so we don't ask you every time you visit.
5. Analytics cookies and your consent
We only set Google Analytics cookies after you actively click "Accept" on our cookie banner. If you click "Reject," no analytics cookies are set, and if you'd previously accepted and change your mind, we delete the existing analytics cookies from your device and stop sending any further data to Google Analytics.
You can withdraw or change your consent at any time using the "Cookie Settings" link in the site footer.
6. Managing cookies through your browser
As well as using our Cookie Settings link, you can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Every browser is different — start here:
Google Chrome
Mozilla Firefox
Safari
Microsoft Edge
Blocking all cookies may affect how parts of this site work, though our core content and functionality will still be available.
7. Third-party processing
Google Analytics is provided by Google. Google's use of the data collected depends on your consent choice on our site, but Google's own handling of any data it receives is governed by Google's own privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we change the tools we use on the site. The "Last updated" date at the top will always reflect the most recent version.
9. Contact us
If you have any questions about this Cookie Policy or how we handle your data, contact us at stay@edenescapescumbria.co.uk or by post at Eden Escapes, Bolton, Appleby, Cumbria, CA16 6AY.
